About Pattern of Harm
I didn’t set out to create another true crime blog.
Like many people, I initially followed individual cases as they appeared in the news. But after reading hundreds of police reports, court records, affidavits, and news articles, I began noticing something unsettling: many of the same circumstances appeared again and again.
Certain household dynamics, warning signs, and allegations seemed to repeat across unrelated cases.
One pattern, in particular, stood out. A significant number of severe child abuse cases involved children living with a parent’s unmarried romantic partner. While every case is different and no single circumstance predicts abuse, I found myself asking the same question repeatedly: Why does this dynamic appear so often in the cases I’m reading?
That question became the foundation for Pattern of Harm.
This website is dedicated to documenting severe child abuse cases through factual reporting and careful research. Articles are based on publicly available sources, including police reports, charging documents, court records, and credible news reporting. My goal is not to sensationalize tragedy or speculate beyond the available evidence. Instead, I strive to create thorough, accessible accounts that preserve the facts of each case while placing them within the broader context of recurring themes seen across many investigations.
As Pattern of Harm grows, coverage will expand to include family annihilator cases and other crimes involving violence within the family. Regardless of the subject, the mission remains the same: to tell these stories accurately, respectfully, and with the attention to detail they deserve.
Too often, these cases become a single headline before fading from public attention. I believe the victims deserve to be remembered, their stories documented, and the facts preserved.
Because every case tells a story. Together, they reveal a pattern.
