Phoenix man arrested for torturing children with Taser and Pliers

Phoenix, AZ – A man is finally behind bars after Phoenix police say he abused an 11 year old and 13 year old using a belt, Taser, and pliers between August and September of 2017.
According to court documents, Angel Andrew Coronado, 36, was arrested in Phoenix, AZ after being contacted by detectives with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Tactical Enforcement for an outstanding warrant.
He and the mother of the children Cassandra Marie Ledesma, 34, were in a relationship and living together. Ledesma and Coronado also have two younger children in common.
Coronado is accused of torturing the 11 year old by hitting them with his fist and a belt 20 to 30 times. He also allegedly shocked both children on the arm up to five times with a Taser.
The documents allege Coronado held down the older child and used pliers to abuse him. He then hit the child on the back and stomach.
Authorities say Coronado also abused the 13 year old by using a rope around his neck to make it difficult to breathe, forcing him to pass out at least once.
The documents show one child had chipped teeth and bruising to his back. He was
also strangled “by placing a wire or rope around his neck and hanging him from a closet rod,” court records show.
The children’s biological mother, Ledesma, is also allegedly accused of strangling a second boy “by placing a belt around his neck and carrying him around.”
According to court documents, in June 2019, a Maricopa County Grand Jury indicted Ledesma on 13 counts of child abuse involving two victims and a grand jury warrant for her arrest was issued.
However, she wasn’t arrested until September 2019.
Coronado is being held at the 4th Avenue Jail and is facing nearly a dozen child abuse charges.
His bond has been set at $300,000.
Ledesma is being held without a bond and is awaiting her next court date.
